The USMA sent out a boatload of passengers to watch the flotilla.

When the flotilla of historic ships marking the quadricentennial of Henry Hudson’s voyage reached the United States Military Academy, a brief ceremony was held.

The boats, which included the Half Moon replica, the Onrust replica, the Clearwater, the John J. Harvey historic fireboat, and many others, were greeted with a dramatic 16-gun salute from the shores of West Point. The crew of the Half Moon then fired up its cannon and responded with a few volleys of their own.

Nils Anderson, who is the Secretary of the General Staff in the Office of the Commandant of Cadets at the military academy, and his wife, Cindy were out on the water during the festivities and Cindy took these photos of the boats in action.
