Our personal use of technology is advancing rapidly, as is the availability of a huge array of devices from which to choose. However, learning to use them can often be a challenge, if not daunting. With that in mind, Cornwall Public Library is offering a new program – Teen Tech Tutors, commencing on Thursday, January 9th.
Charlotte Dunaief, Reference & Adult Services Librarian, reached out to Cornwall Central High School’s Guidance Department to see if any students would be interested in volunteering their time at the library to answer technology questions on most devices, i.e. smart phones, iPads, iPods, readers, tablets, laptops. “I was pleased to have some young people come in and offer their services for this purpose,” said Mrs. Dunaief. “Our teens are well-versed in using all the latest devices. Teen Tech Tutors seemed a perfect way to put them together with our patrons who had questions.”
Teen Tech Tutors will be available the 2nd Thursday of each month through June. The first session is Thursday, January 9th, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the library’s community room. Patrons are asked to bring their own devices so that assistance can be “hands on”, and therefore most productive. The hour-long session is drop in, with no registration required.
