On December 12, The Cornwall Lions Club and the Art and English departments of Cornwall Central Middle School presented “A Peace Poster Exhibit” in the community room of the Cornwall Public Library.

The event, which has been run by Lions Clubs throughout the globe for more than twenty-five years, is a contest which encourages students to present a view of a peaceful world through the medium of art. Those who win the contest at the local level may go on to participate in district, multiple district, and international levels.

"YOUR WORLD - OUR FUTURE"” was the theme for this year’s contest.

Cornwall Central School District Middle School 6th grader Jonathan Gagnon is awarded First Place in the District # 20-0 Lions Club "Peace Poster Contest.

Lions Club District 20 encompasses all of the following below six NY Counties:
Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Dutchess, Columbia and Green.

Jonathan's Peace Poster titled "Our World - Our Future" was judged best out of all submissions in the 6 county area.

Jonathan was awarded $100 by the Cornwall Lions Club and $50 by Lions District 20-0.

Jonathan's Peace Poster will now be entered into the Lions Club NY State wide contest to be held sometime in January 2014.
