CCHS DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS NEIL SIMON’S HILARIOUS COMEDY – “RUMORS” –
NOVEMBER 12, 13, 14 and 15
CORNWALL, New York– Rumor has it that Cornwall Central High School (CCHS) will be presenting Neil Simon’s hysterical comedy, “Rumors”, on November 12 – 15, in the CCHS auditorium. Curtain is at 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and at 2pm on Sunday. All tickets are general admission, and will be available at the door (no advance ticket sales) for $7; seniors and students, $5.
“Rumors” is set at the large, tastefully appointed home of the Deputy Mayor of New York in the tony town of Sneden's Landing. When the curtain rises, we find the Deputy Mayor has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of Neil Simon. Gathering for their tenth wedding anniversary, the host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. The first guests must get "the story" straight before the other couples arrive. As the confusion and miscommunications mount, and the rumors fly, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
American playwright, screenwriter, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Neil Simon is widely regarded as the most successful, prolific and performed playwright in the world. A favorite of Director Rich Aufiero, “Rumors” was Simon’s first foray into the frenetic world of farce, and he plunders and pillages with the best of them. It is Simon at his laugh-out-loud best!
