General News: Pipeline Proposed in Mountainville

Pilgrim Pipeline information left with a homeowner in Mountainville
Pilgrim Pipeline information left with a homeowner in Mountainville
September 12, 2013

 By Jim Lennon

A new proposed pipeline is to carry gasoline, diesel, heating oil, kerosene, and aviation fuel through Mountainville.

Pilgrim Pipeline Holdings, LLC is in the process of securing what is labeled as a "Survey Permit.... to conduct surveys for a pipeline route" authorization from homeowners and real property owners in the Mountainville section of Cornwall.

Pilgrim  Pipeline Holdings, LLC issued a "Survey Permit" request form received by area resident.

The Pilgrim Pipeline literature attached to the "Survey Permit" request that was received by residents and land owners states the following:

"Pilgrim Pipeline Holdings, LLC is currently exploring the feasibility of developing an East Coast pipeline to carry refined petroleum products.... northbound from New Jersey to Upstate New York, and crude oil southbound from New York to refineries  in New Jersey." (quote from mailing).

The pipeline(s), will have a major branch line that will end in Newburgh or New Windsor north of the Moodna inlet (possibly in the area of River Road which is a major petroleum distribution center).

Also according to the above map, and address location of a homeowner who received a "Survey Permit" request, the proposed pipeline route will pass not far from our Town of Cornwall well field on Taylor Road, and Kiryas Joel proposed auxiliary well field also on Taylor Road.

Another pipeline?

If they run their shop like KJ, they'll have no problems at all. They'll just start digging, permits or no, without any real resistance from our representatives.

What's next? Fracking?..
Too close to our water supply - No way!

Toxic and explosive petroleum products flowing right next to various municipal water supplies.

What could go wrong?

It's not like those pipelines ever leak or anything.

Get ready for the movie Gasland III: Extreme Mountainville Edition. Fight time. This, the KJ pipeline, that is an illegal size (80%) larger, and our ex-well? WAKE UP EVERYONE, your voices must be loud and persistent to anyone who will listen. Assemblyman Skoufis is already on this, but we ALL have to back him up. Act now, unless you like bathing from a gallon jar of store-bought water.

Word is out that the Town of Cornwall rolls over and plays dead when confronted by developers and corporate interests.
