Eight property owners showed up on Grievance Day in November to ask that their property assessments be lowered. Several were successful, including two old houses that are in the process of a gut renovation.
Unsuccessful in its appeal for a lower assessment was the Cornwall Yacht Club, which sought to reduce its assessment of $1,295,600 to $200,000. Mayor Moulton said that the club, whose appeal to the town was also denied, will be pursuing a court case.

Mayor Moulton announced the appointment of Paula M.L. Sebesta to the position of deputy treasurer effective in February 2007. Ms. Sebesta, who had worked part-time in the village office, is replacing Debbie Foster, who left in September.

Village trustee Mark Edsall informed the board that Verizon plans to bring fiber optic service to the community in 2007, offering phone, internet, and a hi-definition television.
