An amazing night of music featuring some of the Hudson Valley's most talented youth is scheduled for April 26th, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The lineup includes Ulster County’s own Dylan Doyle Band and NFA’s Better Late Than Never, voted 2012's most talented teen band in the HV. Accomplished female vocalists from the area round out the performances. Annarella’s on the Green, at the Storm King Golf Club, 18 Ridge Road will be hosting this event, which is being planned and organized by Samantha Argenio, 7th grade honor student at Cornwall Central Middle School.

Inspiration Came From Being Selected as a Student Ambassador

In the fall of 2012, Samantha was invited to apply to be a Student Ambassador with the People to People Program. After attending an information session, and realizing the tremendous learning opportunity afforded by the program, she committed herself to the task of getting accepted, including submitting an application, providing at least 3 letters of recommendation, and being interviewed. When the call came that she had been selected, she was thrilled. She then turned her attention to the task of earning her way, as so many ambassadors before her had done.

Samantha’s love of music was the motivation behind this fundraising event. “As a Student Ambassador, I will be a “voice of my country” with a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow, so I wanted to create an event where other kids could share their talents. “Giving Youth a Voice – a Music Competition” grew from this original idea.

Attendees Will Enjoy Amazing Entertainment and May Even Win Big!

In addition to the young talent, K104.7 will be sending their Street Team to the event, playing today's hit music in between acts. Plus, more than 30 local businesses have stepped up to support the event with sponsorships and raffle prizes. The winning performer will win a professional recording session and 3-song demo disc for their achievement, generously donated by Carl LaCascia of the Hodge Podge Performing Arts and Music Rehearsal Studio in New Windsor. Samantha urges everyone to come down, hear some amazing music and enter for a chance to win some great raffle prizes including a 4-night stay in a suite at a Disney, and a FREE month of guitar lessons from Imperial Guitar and Soundworks. There is a $6 admission. 100% of proceeds will be dedicated to Samantha’s tuition.

What is the People to People Student Ambassador Program? The People to People Student Ambassador program is the world’s most recognized and respected student travel provider. Proposed in 1956 by President Eisenhower, the program was designed to promote peace to a war-ravaged world. His idea: to give everyday citizens of different countries the opportunity to meet and become acquainted, to engender understanding, friendship and lasting peace. Starting with the first traveling delegation in the early 1960’s the program began to break down cultural barriers by providing short-term travel opportunities with the personal, behind the scenes access that Eisenhower envisioned.
