General News: Town Candidacy Announcements

March 21, 2013

03/21/2013

Cornwall Town Supervisor Kevin Quigley will not seek re-election in the fall. Deputy Supervisor Mary Beth Greene and Councilman Randy Clark have announced that they will run for Cornwall Town Supervisor.

Mary Beth Greene is currently serving her fourth term as Cornwall Town Councilwoman, first elected in 1999, with the added duties of Deputy Town Supervisor since 2004. Her experience and service in town government has provided her with the knowledge and understanding of the meaning of public service and will prove very beneficial to the residents and community of Cornwall as Town Supervisor.

In addition, Greene has been serving as Deputy County Clerk for Motor Vehicles in the County Clerk's Office since 2010.
Greene said, "These are difficult times for local government, facing many challenges as we continue to provide vital services while controlling taxes for our residents. My many years of experience on the Town Board has afforded me the opportunity to be involved with all aspects of town government including financial, services and planning for our future. I will put that experience to work as Town Supervisor".

Randy Clark, presently serving his third term as councilman, believes the next couple of years for Cornwall’s future is critical and that the people of greater Cornwall deserve a strong, independent, forward thinking individual who is willing to face these challenges head on.

An independent financial planner, Clark has managed his practice for 33 years, has represented the people of greater Cornwall for the last ten years as town councilman and is active with different volunteer organizations within the Greater Cornwall Community.

Helen Bunt is announcing her intentions to run for Town Council in Town of Cornwall.  She will seek the Republican Endorsement for this position.  She served on Town Board 1996 to 2000 and Town Supervisor 2000-2002.  She is presently ending her term on the Planning Board. She is has served as a member and President of Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and the Cornwall Lions. She owns and operates Butterhill Day School, a local business on Main Street. She feels she has the experience and dedication to help bring Greater Cornwall  through the future with success. She enjoys serving her community and feels this is the right time to step forward.
