On Thursday, February 14th, Cornwall Library held an emerging technologies event entitled "Pet Tech" from 2-4 pm.
The well attended program held in the Community Room attracted varied age and gender participants, but mostly the visitors who were seeking tips on how to better use the different new products they own or to get an up close glimpse of some of the newest technology products were those above the age of fifty (50).
The Barnes & Noble representative was fantastic explaining the basics and enhanced capabilities of the "Nook" and "Kindle", and gave many of the visitors a hands on demonstration.
The representative from "Best Buy" did not show for the "Tech Pet" event to the the disappointment and dismay of the Event Coordinator Charlotte Dunaief, a Cornwall Reference Librarian, but who did an excellent job of answering many of the questions of the visitors.
Charlotte Dunaief, Event Coordinator said in a pre-event interview with the Cornwall-on-Hudson.com E-News Editor/Publisher Wendy Bogart, that the goal of this Library event was for “people to have a chance to see, touch and play – to become a little more comfortable with technology and the wonderful features these devices offer.”
Ms. Dunaief stated that she has had a lot of great positive feedback and many calls from those who were happy they had attended the event. She also said that due to the overwhelming success of "Tech Pet" the Library will probably be scheduling another such event in the later part of March, in the evening, so that people who work and/or go to school will be able to attend.
The Cornwall Public Library certainly did meet its goal - everyone was very pleased with the knowledge that was imparted, including this writer.
