General News: Village Accepts Revised Ethics Code

November 25, 2012

By Joseph Oliveto

The Trustees of the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson met at Village Hall Monday night, November 19, 2012 for the monthly business meeting. On the agenda for the evening was a revised ethics code.

After some brief discussion, the trustees approved and accepted the revised ethics code and reviewed the monthly reports from the village departments.

During the meeting, the trustees set a public hearing for December 17 to override the 2% Tax Levy Cap, as well as a public hearing that same day to discuss parking on Holts Lane. The trustees also accepted a resolution that would allow the village to purchase software to improve building/water/fire data collection.

The date of June 1, 2013 for the 16th annual Riverfest was agreed upon.

During the time set for public comment, the possibility of creating an information kiosk for visitors during the Hike & Bike season was discussed. Although no official action was taken at the time, all agreed that it would be beneficial to the village to create something that would help to orient visitors in the village and alleviate their need to ask questions of residents.

At the end of the meeting, the trustees decided to change the time of the next work session from 7:00 PM to 5:00 PM, December 10.

Comments:

"After some brief discussion, the trustees approved and accepted the revised ethics code and reviewed the monthly reports from the village departments. "

A check of the village website shows no elicitation of the specific revisions to the village ethics code, and this report has none.

One wonders why.
