CCHS DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS THE HILARIOUS COMEDY “LEADING LADIES”
NOVEMBER 9 and 10
Under normal circumstances, one would expect the leading lady of a play to be a…well…lady. However, there are certain instances where the word “normal” does not apply. Such is the case with Ken Ludwig’s laugh-out-loud comedy, “Leading Ladies”. Performances are November 9-10, in the CCHS auditorium. Curtain is at 7pm on Friday and Saturday nights, with a Saturday matinee starting at 2pm. All tickets are general admission, and will be available at the door (no advance ticket sales) for $7; seniors and students, $5.
This fiercely funny farce centers around two English Shakespearean actors who find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that a spinster in a nearby town is on death’s door and leaving her vast fortune to her two long-lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, they discover the relatives aren't nephews, but rather nieces! Zaniness ensues and romantic entanglements abound, especially when one of them falls head-over-high-heels in love with the spinster’s niece, who’s engaged to the local minister. The niece knows that there’s a wide world out there, but it’s not until she meets her new-found “cousins” that she finally gets a taste of it.
Described by director Rich Aufiero as highly combustible and increasingly hilarious, this play mixes all of the uproarious elements of “Some Like It Hot” with the works of the Great Bard, himself. “Leading Ladies” is presented by the following groups of talented student-actors:
