The Cornwall Varsity Cheerleading team took 4th Place Overall in the National Cheerleading Competition in Kentucky this past weekend.
Connie Wagner, a parent of one of the cheerleaders, accompanied the cheerleaders on the trip to Kentucky and took these fantastic photos during the competition.
Wagner notes that the 4th Place win is very impressive for competing in the mid-west.
She says that the cheerleaders started off for Kentucky at 6 am.Friday morning traveling by bus, which took over 18 hours due to tornados in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. They finally made their destination at midnight Friday, just eight hours before the first competition.
The team competed twice on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. and the awards concluded at 7 p.m. The Cornwall cheerleading squad’s first routine in the morning had a few falters, Wagner says, but they nailed the routine in the afternoon session which helped their overall score and moved them up to 4th Place.
Following their last performance of their high school career, the 11 seniors and their parents celebrated with hugs and tears.
