General News: Verizon Wireless Foundation Grant Received

The Friends of Cornwall Public Library have received a technology grant in the amount of $7,500.00 from the Verizon Wireless Foundation. The total amount has been given to Cornwall Public Library to be used toward the expansion and upgrading of technology, specifically adding laptop computers, a charging station, and several iPad tablets.
“We had been researching grants toward this specific goal, and we were excited when we learned of this opportunity,” said Karen LaRocca-Fels, Library Director. The library staff worked with the Friends of Cornwall Public Library to apply for the grant. “The Verizon Wireless Foundation proved to be an excellent resource. Although typically lengthy it was great to be able to do the total application online, and they were most expedient in letting us know we were grant recipients,” said Ms. Harkinson.
Mrs. Fels indicated that the laptops and tablets will be used by library staff and patrons for training purposes, classes, and general use on premise. “It has long been our dream to be able to start building a technology lab for our library,” said Mrs. Fels. “The Verizon grant certainly gives us a very solid start on this exciting initiative.”
