General News: Police Nab Two After Hi-Speed Chase

A high-speed chase in Cornwall ended badly Monday evening for a man who tried to elude police by turning onto Bridge Street, only to discover that the street was closed. The driver hit a parked car and was soon apprehended by police.
Cornwall police chief Todd Hazard said Officer Nicholas Casullo was on patrol on Angola Road when he spotted a car that the Woodbury police were seeking in relation to a reported theft at Woodbury Commons. The Cornwall police gave chase and the fleeing suspect spun through Chadeayne Circle in the wrong direction, hitting some Christmas decorations before heading down Main Street. The driver nearly struck Police Officer Gebert and his vehicle in the process.
After the driving several hundred feet down Main Street, Lorenzo Adams, age 53, of Newburgh, turned left on Bridge and struck a parked car. He and his passenger Dorothy Adams, age 50, of Newburgh, tried to flee on foot but were apprehended by Officers Casullo and Gebert. Several hundred dollars worth of clothing believed to be stolen from Woodbury Commons was located in the vehicle, Chief Hazard said.
A witness, Tommy Lindemann, said he heard the police with sirens blaring as they drove down Main Street, then came outside where he saw the car stopped, with a woman who was apparently a passenger in the vehicle, on her knees, with handcuffs.
Lorenzo Adams was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor; reckless driving, a class A misdemeanor; criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony; and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
Dorothy Adams was charged with tampering with evidence, a class E felony and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree; a class E felony. Both defendants were taken to the Cornwall Hospital by the Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Corps for minor injuries from the collision.
Both subjects were held pending arraignment

I knew it was a good move that they never got around to fixing that bridge. I would pay money to see that foot pursuit after the crash.

what an awful thing to happen on this christmas week...i know people are getting desparate and this is becoming the signs of the time ..just very very lucky no one was hurt bad , including our officers.....
