General News: Village Agrees to Taylor Biomass Deal

November 22, 2011

By Charlie B. Scirbona

After six months of on-and-off deliberation, the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Board of Trustees voted unanimously Monday to accept a 20-year contract with Taylor Biomass for the village’s solid waste disposal.

The board’s comes a week after the Cornwall Town Board signed on with Taylor Biomass. Jim Taylor, owner of Taylor Biomass, attended the village’s business meeting Monday, and thanked the board for its decision, saying it would be a big boost to have both the village and the town on board.

Taylor Biomass first offered the village and town the 20-year contract in June. The offer, which has remained the same over the course of six months, offered a price of $66 a ton, versus the $80 a ton the village currently pays the county to take its garbage.

Comments:

I trust that the $14 per ton savings resulting from this deal will be passed on to the residents of the village in the form of lower garbage rates? We can hope can't we?

There has to be a typo somewhere in the above article. Are you telling me that the village board UNANIMOUSLY voted on something? That is unheard of, a milestone, something that EVERY resident has to remember to the day they die. I hope they tell their grandchildren about this momentous day. In all seriousness, good job to the WHOLE village board for agreeing on SOMETHING. Even if the majority of the residents don't agree on it. At least its SOMETHING.

As a matter of fact the board was unanimous on 15the votes last night. As usual James your rhetoric is overshadowed by your inaccuracys. One must wonder what purpose these posts serve.

Even if the majority of the residents don't agree on it.

Jimmy, the board represents the village. If the majority of the residents don't agree on it, why should the board?

Politics isn't your metier. Stick to snitching campaign signs.

You have to love all this "slander"on this news site. The same slander that someone cried about a few days ago on here. It's sad that peoples only defense on EVERY matter is an alleged crime. Even when I give the WHOLE board a compliment and I still get harassed. Tell me Mr House, how does one tell on a campaign sign? I guess talking isn't your metier.

Mr. House. You should of applied for the Village of Cornwall Police Chief position. By reading your above comment it looks like you caught the legendary "Sign Snitcher". That's right everyone, I'm the "sign snitcher". Hide your kids, hide your wife, the notorious "sign snitcher" is on the loose.
