The Emerald Elite FC Soccer Club Game Results (Weekend of September 17)

EEFC GU11 Rebels

EEFC GU11 Rebels opened the Fall 2011 campaign with a shutout of the North Rockland Blue Lightning at Maranatha Field. The Rebels avenged a 5-1 defeat to the Blue Lightning last match, with solid play across the pitch. Taylor Moreau and Amanda Masterson combined for 8 saves, on the way to their first clean sheet (shutout) of the season. The defense, led by newcomer Megan "Cheese" Bourgeois and Morgan Hurst, held the Blue Lightning scoreless and thwarted countless attacks throughout the match. The Rebels maintained a significant advantage in time of possession and continually pressured the visitors by controlling the midfield. Emerald Elite's midfielders led by Amanda Bermel and Caroline Schrag were solid all match long and contributed at both ends of the field. The Rebels opened the scoring in the first half on a beautiful goal by Amanda Bermel. Caitlin Finucane added a late 1st half goal, assisted by Mirjam Pearman, to take the Rebels into half with a 2-0 advantage. The second half featured end to end play with the Blue Lightning desperate to get back into the match, but the Rebels proved up to the task defensively. The home team sealed the victory late when Caitlin Finucane broke loose down the right side, cut inside and burried a shot in the back top corner. This was truely a TEAM win. Rebels 3 Blue Lightning 0!

EEFC GU12 Rebels

The EEFC GU12 Rebels opened their season in fine form with a 4 - 0 Win over Eastern PA Lady Strykers in the Beautiful Warrior Stadium at Delaware Valley High School. The Rebels opened the game with an impressive display of passing taking advantage of the spacious fast moving turf field and had the Lady Strykers chasing all game. Morgan Creeden opened the scoring converting a Nicole Shapiro corner kick on a smooth one touch redirect just inside the right post. Despite dominating play the Rebels could have been down at the half as Eastern Pike produced 3 clear breakaways only to be stonewalled by Rebel Keeper Taylor Moreau who was unbeatable in the Rebel net. The Half ended with the score 1 - 0. The Rebels came out charging in the second half on a quick goal off an explosive run down the right side by Megan Geary. The Rebels balanced attact struck next from the left side when Morgan Creeden put home her second of the match. With the lead safe in hand Center Back Kenzi Moreau took a run at Striker and produced many quality chances until at last she put home the final goal of the Match. The clean sheet was preserved by a solid defence anchored by Emma Barrett. Great job by all in a total team effort!

EEFC GU13 Rebels
EEFC GU13 Rebels, playing in a GU13/14 division, opened the Fall 2011 campaign with a hard fought 3-1 loss to the GU14 North Rockland Magic. North Rockland opened the scoring early in the first half on a Penalty Kick, from an inadvertant handball in the box, that snuck into the side of the goal. The Magic added another first half goal on a bouncing ball in the corner that bounced under the keeper (clearly the result of field issues from Hurricane Irene). Despite being down 2-0 to an older squad, the Rebels continued to battle, forcing play at both ends of the pitch. The Rebels defense led by Brynne Growney, Emma Barrett and Cara DiMedio thwarted many Magic attacks and kept their team in the match throughout the morning. Midfielders Maia Tice and Mekenzie Moreau applied consistent pressure on the Magic with strategically placed through balls, hard work and dazzling foot skills. Coach Mike's offense powered by Madeline McGuire and Nicole Shapiro broke through several times but were unable to score until late in the 2nd half. Striker Sara Mintz broke from 40 yards out and split 3 Magic defenders before slotting home the first goal of the season for the Lady Rebels. Great effort by all! Rebels 1 - Magic 3.
