From the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center

On Wednesday, September 7, 2011, Encore, Inc. Consign for A Cause opened for business with an official ribbon-cutting held at the store in Cornwall Plaza, Cornwall. The new store is located in the Cornwall Plaza at 45 Quaker Avenue, Suite 100, Cornwall, NY 12518. Led by Development Retail Manager Joan DiTullo, a seasoned veteran of non-profit retail endeavors, the new shop will benefit the initiatives of the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center. Every cent raised will go right back into supporting the center's mission to provide access to affordable quality healthcare right in our community.

The Encore Consignment Shop will offer fine label clothing and accessories for women and for girls and boys in tween and teen sizes, as well as home goods, antiques and the works of local artisans. The store will be staffed entirely by a corps of dedicated volunteers of all ages. The store hopes to be a walking destination for the youth in the community as well as offering them Junior volunteer positions that will earn them community service hours and give them important retail experience for future employment.

The store breaths life to a pretty spot in Cornwall that had been empty for the past 5 years. It will help support the Health Center’s mission, put cash in consignors pockets and is good for the environment. The store's renovation was made possible by many “Friends of the Family Health Center,” including Hearthstone Contracting, Helen Piteo Interiors, Habitat for Humanity’s Restore and a core team of hard working volunteers and donors. The store will be open Tuesday – Saturday beginning September 8. Consignors welcome.

Comments:

Great addition to the community, especially for those who have fallen on economically difficult times. Those who have something to sell and those who are looking for good quality merchandise at lower prices will certainly benefit; and also the health center. Everyone wins in this one.
