Christmas in July – that’s what former Cornwall-on-Hudson resident Patricia Hart McMillan was thinking about when she received the newsletter from this website filled with photos of the Fourth of July celebration in Cornwall.

McMillian recalled how she misses these celebrations that she used to enjoy with her daughter, Katharine Kaye, a graduate of Cornwall Central High School. She served as a trustee of the Cornwall Public Library and writes that after she left the area to live in San Antonio, Texas, she still pursued her passion for books, creating her own series of interior design books.

McMillian would like all of her former colleagues in Cornwall to know about the three holiday books she published with her daughter and co-author Katharine Kaye:  Christmas At Historic Houses, Decorating For Christmas At Historic Homes and Delicious Christmas Decorations feature gorgeous photographs of beautifully decorated rooms in houses that range from cottages to castles.

All three Christmas books showcase historic and contemporary interpretations of holiday decorating that can be re-invented for any home. "Lavish decorating need not cost a fortune. Some items shown may be bought even at San Antonio Goodwill stores, as I did" says Pat. “The history of Christmas in America and the ways in which families celebrated the winter holiday connects us with our rich heritage,” says Kat, a research psychologist and design writer. “As Pat shows, decorating for the holidays can be done in a style to suit every budget.”

The mother-daughter team prove that they have been busy in their new home. In recent years they appeared on TV and radio shows and have been celebrity speakers at home shows across the country. Other titles by the McMillans include Home Decorating For Dummies®, Do-It-Yourself Painting For Dummies®, and five other coffee table books sold worldwide.
