The annual holiday party for the Museum of the Hudson Highlands sparkled with a different light this Sunday. Thanks to the generous donation of the Yellow Bird Gallery by owner Dick Polich, friends and supporters of the museum got an opportunity to tour the contemporary art space on Newburgh’s famous waterfront.
About 100 guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres while admiring the glittering works of Hans Van de Bovenkamp and the collection of “Small Works” in the upper gallery.
It was the perfect setting to get inspired about the Museum’s recent accomplishments and to dream about the new programs coming this spring.
Kenridge Farm has a new outdoor education pavilion, thanks to the efforts of museum trustee Bonnie Mangiaracina. This will be used extensively in the spring as the Museum launches its new interactive discovery trails, to be called “Highland Quests.” Many volunteers have been testing the trails this fall and have deemed the project fun and educational. The public will be able to try these trails first hand when the Museum hosts its first annual “Hike-a-thon” next May.
Museum Board chairman, David Redden, thanked all the members for their continued support that makes all these exciting programs possible. It was truly a Thanksgiving celebration.
