General News: Orange County Roads Closed

Due to the heavy rain in the overnight hours, coupled with precipitation from earlier in the week, there are areas in Orange County that are experiencing significant flooding today. Based on the latest information from the Orange County Department of Emergency Management, the following status situation applies.
Orange County is still in a flood watch, but the area along the Wallkill River is under a flood warning. A flood warning means flooding is occurring or is imminent.
“I would remind residents that most flood related fatalities occur in automobiles,” said County Executive Diana. “Please do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, low water crossings, or drive through flooded roads.”
As of 10 a.m., the following roads are closed:
Ulsterville Road in Crawford
Route 218 between Cornwall and West Point in Cornwall
Shore Road between River Street Park - Wood Ave in the Village of Cornwall
County Route 61 between Route 209 and Route 211 in Deerpark
Route 209 in Deerpark (near Sullivan County)
Big Pond Road in Deerpark
Academy Avenue and Box Baum Road in Deerpark
Shore Drive in Deerpark
Avenue L in Deerpark
Avenue E in Deerpark
Port Orange Road in Deerpark
Upperbrook Road in Deerpark
North Main Street between Shore Street and 17 M in the Village of Harriman
Canning Road in Montgomery
Route 211 in Mount Hope
Pine Hill Road in the Town of Chester
Gardinertown Road in the Town of Newburgh
Beattie Road at MacClean in the Town of New Windsor
Mount Airy Road at Dean Hill Road in the Town of New Windsor
Bethlehem Road in the Town of New Windsor
County Route 106 in Tuxedo
Route 17 – Orange County Line to Route 59, Rockland in Tuxedo
Grove Drive in Tuxedo
Benjamin Meadow Road in Tuxedo
Warwick Brook Road in Tuxedo
Sterling Mine Road – NJ State line to Long Meadow Road in Tuxedo
Miller Road in Wallkill
Forster Avenue in Warwick

As of 10 a.m., the following bridges are closed:
Miller Bridge in Wallkill
East Village Bridge in Tuxedo
In the Town of Deerpark a State of Emergency is in effect. There is a mandatory evacuation of Avenue L and Shore Drive in Deerpark, and a voluntary evacuation of Avenue E. Residents there may utilize a shelter that has been opened at the Port Jervis High School located at 10 Route 209.
Currently, the Orange County Department of Emergency Management is monitoring the situation and is coordinating with local governments and providing assistance as needed.
