Studio 208 in Cornwall-on-Hudson is branching out to the city of Newburgh where studio founder Lynn Peebles is helping a grassroots performance space get off the ground.
Peebles says that she wants to help the Railroad Playhouse get established as a venue for theater, dance, art and movement so she has organized a day-long Movement Marathon to be held on Sunday, March 13th. During the day you can take a class in Zumba, yoga, Capoeira, Stage Combat or Nia – or just sit back and get a relaxing chair massage.
Cornwall residents Seth and Jen Soloway founded the new playhouse last year to create a home for playwrights and a site for youth arts programs. They have put together an ambitious program that features art exhibits, film showings and, in March, two performances by the Air Pirates Radio Theater.
Peebles encourages the public to come into the new theater and shake off the winter blues with a day of family fun and fitness. The suggested donation is $10 for adults; $5 for students and seniors. Children accompanied by an adult are free and all proceeds benefit the Railroad Playhouse.
