January 01, 2011

This year, the glittering ball descended from the SKFE ladder truck at midnight to greet the arrival of 2011 in the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Kris Seiz, one of the lead organizers of this year's community effort, wrote on her Facebook page that she was overwhelmed by the number of people who helped prepare the show. "I expected a fireman and a bucket truck, and got 11 firefighters, 3 theater designers (Steve Sywak and Wynn and Ledley Klosky), 1 boy scout (great knots Bob Langston!), and umpteen volunteers. Free coffee for everyone from Cumby's, and pizza from The River Bank for the firemen! God I love my town," she wrote.

Jaci Canning Murphy sent in the photo of the ball drop, the other two shots came via Kris Seiz.

Comments:

Thank you Kris! Thank you for organizing and gathering all these fine folks together to create another memorable evening in the Village! It just would not have been the same without our Village Square festivities.Thank you to every one of you who put in the time and effort to make it happen for us all.

FOUND near the bandstand during the New Year's Day Cleanup: an ornate silver earring with tiny turquoise (?) beads. Would love to reunite it with its owner!

Great photos too bad none of these made the cover of the Local.
