The Cornwall School District is planning to honor its national champion, Aisling Cuffe, on Wednesday, December 22nd at a daytime school assembly and prior to an evening basketball tournament.

Aisling was also the Footlocker Northeast Regional Champion and advanced to the National Championship in San Diego on December 11th, where she placed first. Aisling finished the race with a time of 16:52, a full 34 seconds before the second place finisher.

“Aisling is a tremendous runner who exemplifies the outstanding dedication that contributes greatly to the success of teams and exhibits the characteristics that one would consider a model for any athletic program,” commented Lou Cioffi, Director of Athletics in the Cornwall Central School District in a statement announcing the creation of AIsing Cuffe Day.   "Wednesday will give students, staff and community an opportunity to show their appreciation of Aisling’s hard work and the dedication of her coaches, Dave Feuer and Brian Creeden.”

In addition to an assembly at 2:15 pm,  Aisling will  be honored that evening at 7:30 pm, prior to the championship game of the Glen Mc Ginnis Boys Basketball Tournament. The public is invited to attend.

Congrats to AC. Followed her for last 2 years. As resident of San diego I was fortunate to see her win the national. With her at Stanford, and Grabill going to Oregon with Jordan Hasay, the Pac 10 will be a super power next year. Way to go Aisling.
