General News: Temperature Drop Means Final Harvest

f you've been waiting until the last moment to harvest those green tomatoes, squash or other garden vegetables, now is the time! Temperatures are expected to go below freezing Thursday night and may provide the final blow to crops in the Cornwall area.
Two light frosts have already blanketed the village in the month of October but Thursday night's cold may be more than the plants can handle.
If you do have a garden full of green tomatoes, you can pick them and bring them inside, then wrap the tomatoes in newspaper or paper bags. A few days in the dark will ripen them nicely. Be sure to check them every day, however, to be sure that they are not ripening too quickly and turning rotten.
