Aisling Cuffe has two of the most important cross country races of the year coming up in the next month, but she will take time in between them to officially light the Christmas tree in Cornwall’s Chadeayne Circle on Sunday, December 5. Cuffe was invited by the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce to perform this honorary role in light of her accomplishments as a runner.

Cuffe, a senior at Cornwall Central High School who lives in Cornwall-on-Hudson, is currently ranked the number one cross country female high school runner. She will be competing in the regional Footlocker race at Sunken Meadow, on Long Island, on Saturday, November 27. She won that race last year.

On December 11, Cuffe will return to Balboa Park in San Diego to compete in the national Footlocker cross country race. She placed fourth in that race as a junior in 2009.

I am sure I speak for many when I say we are extremely proud of you. Best of luck in your upcoming races.

Aisling is an inspiration to all young girls. She took the time out to tell my little girls how well they did in the independence day run. They were quite thrilled even though very shy. We got right to the sports pages to read anything in it about Aisling. It's nice to have Aisling here for our young children to cheer on. Kerri & Kylie will be cheering you on as I'm sure the entire town will be.
