From the oceanfront in Rockport Massachusetts, where he painted his first plein air painting, to the windswept hills of Ireland, Paul Gould has practiced a craft that runs in his blood and has sent him to exotic locales around the world.
The son of John Gould, a prolific mid-century artist and illustrator who founded the Bethlehem Art Gallery in Salisbury Mills, Paul started painting when he was eleven, along with his brother, William.
Gould shares his art as a teacher at the Hudson Valley Gallery in Cornwall-on-Hudson, which he founded nearly a decade ago. He also exhibits the work of students and colleagues there.
This month, Gould will feature a special exhibit of his own work that celebrates his 50 years as an artist. Gould will welcome people to his gallery at an opening on Saturday, October 9, from 5 to 8 pm. The exhibit will be open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 5 pm, and by appointment, through the end of October
