A creative sculptor visited the Cornwall-on-Hudson riverfront this weekend, building a series of more than a half dozen rock cairns that extendout into the river itself.

Visitors to the landing have seen these rock sculptures before, but the number and variety of this series had people talking like never before.

At high tide, several of the sculptures were surrounded by water and seemed to be rising from the river themselves. A single log apparently pulled from the river’s edge was enthroned on a metal pipe that rose from the dock at the landing.

The identity of the sculptor is unknown at this time.

Comments:

Actually two bearded stone-stackers. Saturday on the rising tide, after 4pm. Classic found art, nice change of scenery.

Although I am sure they will not last the mighty river, these rock sculptures plague parks and hiking trails throughout the nation. Its ok if they are removed after a reasonable time, otherwise it upsets the natural beauty of a landscape. just my thoughts.

Rock cairns are used in this country and internationally to mark trails, especially trail intersections. Please do NOT remove them unless you are quite sure they serve no purpose.
