General News: Sign Up Now for Main Street Mile

The Cornwall Independence Day Committee invites runners to compete in the 12th annual Main Street Mile the afternoon of Sunday, July 4.
The men’s race will begin at 4:30 p.m.; the women start five minutes later. As the runners stream along Main Street, they will draw from the excitement generated by the crowd gathered for the Fourth of July celebration. Check-in will begin at 3 p.m.
The mile course begins near Cornwall Hospital and continues past the Cornwall Town Hall, providing a good view for the many spectators lining the street waiting for the Independence Day Parade, which starts at 5 p.m.
The entry fee is $15; entries postmarked by June 30 will be guaranteed a race shirt. The race day entry fee is $18. Cornwall high school track coach Dave Feuer is coordinating the race. A trophy will be awarded to the overall winner and medals will be presented in many age categories at approximately 5:30 p.m. in front of the CIDC stage near the tennis courts.
The committee is grateful to race sponsors Hudson Valley Foot Associates and Windsor Dental (Dr. Steven P. Stern).
