In a newly-released documentary, the Palisades Parks Conservancy recounts the history of the parks system that began in response to a thunderous explosion that destroyed cliffs along the Hudson. The documentary was made to recognize the contributions of the Perkins family that began when George Perkins, the president of the New York Commission, protested the blasting.
