Ask Central Hudson for a corporate sponsorship ...in exchange for placing a (very discreet) sign acknowledging their contribution to the community. Hey, their logo could be tweaked into the Star of Bethlehem. Just an idea.

How about this: A non-profit entity set up that can accept voluntary contributions for Christmas and holiday decorating. The trees get decorated and you get a small tax write-off. Perhaps this can be a subdivision of an already existing entity in the town (fire, ems, food bank, etc.) Just an idea, nothing more.

Another great idea: In a couple of years we can ask KJ to donate the money for the lights. They should be making a nice profit when they start charging us for our own water. Great article in the Record today about KJ having contractors at the wells on Nov 17 setting up. Merry Christmas.
