September 18, 2009

Summer may be wrapping up, but the list of things to do this fall is growing already.

Clean Up Crew Wanted
The Cornwall Conservation Advisory Council is looking for volunteers for its annual Hudson River Cleanup on Saturday October 3. The CCAC Cleanup is conducted in partnership with Storm King Adventure Tours and the Global Sports Alliance and is part of the International Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers should meet at Donahue Park at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 3. Please dress appropriately for the weather, including safe footwear. Holiday Lovers Wanted

The Cornwall recreation department is accepting reservations for a holiday trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania on December 2 and 3, 2009. Get into the holiday spirit on this overnight adventure where you will take in some holiday shows and get a chance to stock up on gifts for the holidays at Rockvale Outlets. Call the recreation department at 534-2070 for costs and other details about this fun excursion.

Photographers Wanted

Share your photos with your friends and neighbors at the annual Town Hall Photography Show sponsored by the Culture in Cornwall Advisory Committee. For register for the show, please contact contact Mary Ann G. Neuman by email at [email protected] or by phone at 534 – 4440 by October 5th.

WOOBIES Wanted

Bring your children, yourself (or both), and a toy, doll, blanket, hat, hoodie, musical instrument, cell phone, anything that's dear to you that can be held next to your face to J. Ferrara's photography studio on September 27th for a unique individual portrait.  The cost will be $65 per sitting- and for additional family members, $55 per person -- and includes the color mounted print of each person photographed.  All profits go to the Autism Move-a-Thon of Orange County NY.  Formed in 2004, AMOC strives to support families who cope with autism and related disorders.  Visit www.jamesferrara.com for details.

Stuff Wanted

Clean out your closets for the third annual village-wide yard sale on October 17. Residents are invited to sign up at village hall to be part of this second-hand extravaganza. Your residence will be on a map that will be handed out to bargain hunters that day. Whatever you don’t sell that day, you can return to your attic or put it on the curbside for pickup on the Fall Rubbish day on Monday, the 19th.

Vendors Wanted

The Storm King Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary is having a fall festival on October 10th and crafters, cooks and collectors are invited to present their wares to the public in the day long event at the firehouse. You can call the firehouse for more information at 534-2841.
