A Neil Young Tribute Festival at Palaia Vineyards this past weekend raised some $3,000 for cancer research. Nearly two dozen bands took part in the two-day festival on the outdoor stage behind the Highland Mills winery.
Winery owner Jan Palaggi organized the tribute to Young, whose acoustic and electric rock music has won the hearts of many. The bands on stage each in their own way captured the essence of Young and the 300 or so people who came to hear their music could be seen singing along.
The money raised at the festival will benefit Joan's Legacy for Lung Cancer, a foundation named for Joan Scarengello, a woman who died from lung cancer even though she never smoked a day in her life. Palaia Vineyards supports this charity as well as many others, including the Young Survivor's Coalition for Breast Cancer, which benefits from the sales of the vineyard’s Pink wine.

Went to it. Great music for a Great Cause. BTW Jan can really sing, Al Westphal rocked and many others were really great. New band every half hour from 1 to 8 and they love the kids. Great Place.
