The YWCA program helps single mothers achieve economic stability.
The YWCA program helps single mothers achieve economic stability.
July 12, 2009

Women’s wellbeing will be the focus of a special day of activities at 311 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson on Sunday, July 19th from 1 to 5 p.m..

The people who run the businesses in that complex are putting on a fair where they will offer their services and have invited the YWCA to bring its program that focuses on helping single mothers re-enter the workforce to the Cornwall community.  The Women’s Work program is designed to increase the income of single moms so they can find economic stability through a stable career.

The business owners at 311 Hudson Street, who include Thomas Manning of Thomas Edwards Wellness Spa, Marisa Miles-Colson of the Village Skin Care Salon,  Timothy Vanderberg of Caring Hands Massage and Mikey Jackson and Aurelia Winborn of 2 Alices Coffee Lounge will donate the proceeds of the daylong fair to the Women’s Work program.

Visitors to 311 Hudson Street will be able to enjoy live music by local bands including Willow Playground, Pat, Blake and Jess, and local folksinger Lydia Adams Davis, who will do a family music and puppet show in the afternoon followed by a program of women’s music.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy coffee and tea refreshments from 2 Alices, a chair massage from Caring Hands Massage or a special hand treatment from the Village Skin Salon and a styling from Thomas Edward’s salon.   Gift baskets will be raffled and door prizes offered, all in an effort to build community and raise money and awareness of the YWCA program for single mothers.
