One of the highlights of Cornwall’s Independence Day festivities is the annual parade that passes through Cornwall-on-Hudson along Hudson Street to Cornwall, where it ends at Chadeayne Circle.

This year’s parade delighted people once again who lined up to see the bands, the local floats and politicians, the firetrucks and scout troops pass by.

Among the highlights in 2009, the handmade boats that were built by children to mark the arrival of Henry Hudson’s Half Moon ship to Cornwall in 1609.  A replica of the Half Moon also celebrated the Quadricentennial of Hudson’s voyage, which is being honored all year along with the Samuel Champlain and Robert Fulton,  who launched the first steamboat on the Hudson 200 years ago.

Comments:

The parade was nice, however, I found the Madison Avenue Float to be a bit disturbing..... Having young girls, all under the age of 10, modeling swimsuits for sale is in my opinion too commercial and in bad taste for a 4th of July parade....
