General News: SKFE #2 Softball Tournament
September 03, 2007
This year will mark the 9th Annual Bruce Armitage Memorial Softball Tournament to be held on Saturday, September 29, and Sunday, September 30, at the Black Rock Fish and Game Club in Mountainville, New York.
The tournament is held each year in memory of Bruce Armitage, a lifelong resident and volunteer at the Storm King Fire engine Company #2 in Cornwall on Hudson. Bruce passed away in 1999 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He left behind a widow and two children. The monies raised from this event are used for a educational trust fund for his children and this year a portion of the proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship for students at the Cornwall Central High School.
Tournament planners are expecting nearly 25 teams to participate in this double elimination tournament. This will be the largest tournament to date. Teams from Sullivan, Orange, Dutchess, Rockland, and Westchester Counties are expected to participate. Food and beverages, along with commemorative Tee-shirts, will be on sale.
