Cornwall-on-Hudson police chief Charles Williams says that the department does not expect to charge anyone in an egg-throwing incident earlier this week, noting that the juvenile suspect and his parents have been dealt with privately.
On Sunday night, August 26, a resident of Pine Street called police to report that someone threw eggs at her house while she was sitting on her front porch. The eggs narrowly missed the woman’s head, then splattered over her and part of her porch, she said.
She said she saw one person and perhaps more disappear from her side yard.
Officer Arthur Terwilliger investigated the report and had started to look for the alleged egg throwers in the area when he ran into two people on bicycles carrying hockey sticks. The pair said that three people had just thrown eggs at them as well and they were out looking for those assailants.
Officer Terwilliger then spoke with clerks at the DB Mart who said they would be able to identify the person who had bought a dozen eggs earlier that night. He also interviewed a couple of youths who said they knew who had thrown the eggs.
Despite having identified a likely suspect, Chief Williams said that it would be a stretch to charge the youth with anything because no damage was done to any property in the incident. He prefers to handle it directly with the boy’s parents.
Comments:
"No damage had been done."? did you ever try to remove egg from a painted surface? Are the miscreants being made to clean up their mess? And then return to the victims' homes for another week of yardwork? Didn't anybody ever read "To Kill A Mockingbird"???!!!
