General News: Deer Tracks

September 22, 2008

Check the left-hand navigation bar of this website to find the place to go if you want to add your opinion to the on-going discussion about what to do with the large deer population in the area. A task force began meeting several months ago to talk about whether something should be done about the expanding number of deer in the Cornwall area.

Click here to read a story and comments about issues the deer task force was addressing.

Now, in an effort to promote a useful discussion on the issues, the deer task force has asked to post this forum on the website. Take a look and add your thoughts. Enter the discussion here.

Comments:

this week, every morning as I have driven from my home off 218 in the village, the deer have been darting in front of cars. The car in front of me this morning almost hit a doe and nearly took out a tree swerving to avoid the collision. It is getting ridiculous. I had a doe and fawns practically on my front steps and she did not even move when I was less than 3 feet awary from her!

We need to do something now besides talk while they destroy everything in site.I have as many as 15 at a time in my yard eating all my plant material.. We need to thin them out in a way they do not suffer and be sure the meat is used for food .
