More than 500 party-goers braved strong winds and a heavy downpour to attend the annual fundraising gala for St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital that was held Saturday night at the riverfront.
Sue Sullivan, the hospital vice president who organized the elaborate gala, estimates that $200,000 was raised from sponsors and attendees.
State senator Bill Larkin was honored by the hospital, which unveiled a sketch of a new park at the Newburgh campus of the hospital that will be named Larkin Plaza. Larkin has helped secure millions of dollars in state funds for the hospital, including $500,000 for the new cancer care center under construction in Cornwall.
Two massive tents were erected in Donahue Memorial Park for the gala, which featured gaming tables and elaborate life-size armour as well as gilt angels and statues that had been provided by Costume Armour of Cornwall.
Former New York Giants running back great and current Today Show correspondent Tiki Barber joined the festivities and met many of the people who support St. Luke’s Cornwall hospital.
Following the gala, the hospital ordered the repair of some of the park grounds that had been damaged by cars parked on the soggy grass. Cornwall-on-Hudson superintendent of the public works Dave Halvorsen said that the hospital had promised to put the park back in better condition than it was before the party.

I'm glad to see they promise to repair any damage they may have caused. It appears that they we're riding trucks or something over the wet grass in the field and created a mess of the lawn. They wasted no time taking over the park to get their tents up but I don't see them having that same urgency to repair the damage they caused.
