General News: Warning to Parents About Teen Drinking

Ruthie Bowles of the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Orange County reminds parents that it against the law to serve alcohol to minors. Bowles, who is working with the Greater Cornwall Coalition to create a healthy environment for local youth, says June is the season for teen parties and some times parents cross the line.
“Hosting a party for teens where alcohol is available is illegal and can be costly to everyone involved,” Bowles press release says. She notes that adults can be prosecuted and face jail, fines, or loss of property for allowing alcohol to be consumed by people under the age of 21
