Algae covers half the pond |

The swans bath in the green water |

I almost beg to differ. I have been at the pond when they are mowing the lawn around the pond and the grass is shooting into the pond from the mower. I have always wondered if there wasn't a better system of mowing so this would not occur. Maybe right now this is algea but I have seen the pond looking exactly the same after mowing.

I agree the pond is unsightly.Something should be done. And it's not just the algea in the pond- the entire area looks mangy and unkept. The soil is dry and unmulched, plants are sparce. Rings pond is one of the highlights of this town, at least for me, and I am currently cringing at the sight of it.

What about putting in a type of fish that will eat this stuff? I know that there are fish that have been sterlized and would not pollute the poud.

Hasn't anyone consulted an expert on this? Surely, someone at the Nature Museum can solve the mystery and say whether or not there is a solution. Rumor has it this is NOT a local problem at Ring's Pond, but is a phenomenon seen all over the Northeast this year.

Sounds like the Supervisor is taking the same approach with the algae as he has with the geese and geese droppings - Wait and Hope that it goes away!! - not the best approach from our elected officials!!
