It may not have been exactly a walk in the park on May 19, but it was an encounter with the misty side of nature when some seventy hardy souls took off in a light rain to explore the new trails at Kenridge Farm.
The Farm serves as the headquarters of the Museum of the Hudson Highlands, which this year launched its first hike-a-thon for visitors to experience the trails and raise money for the museum at the same time.
About 75 people joined the hike, pledging thousands of dollars to the museum in process.
The new trails traverse forest, meadows, and wetlands habitats of the177-acre Kenridge Farm. On Sunday, June 10, the museum will unveil its new Discovery Quests along the trails, where visitors will uncover many secrets of nature as they walk.
Stay tuned as well for the announcement of a new name for the museum, a name that will reflect the core mission of this nature museum that has been in operation for about half a century.
