This year’s Memorial Day parade took place under brilliant blue skies as people honored those men and women who died while serving our country.

The Cornwall parade started off at 10 a.m. in the village, then stopped for a brief ceremony to re-dedicate the memorial near the elementary school that was created 70 years ago to honor those who served in World War One. Mary Ann Rose, president of the Cornwall Historical Society, was joined by Thomas Quinlan and Ed Moulton as she placed a wreath at the monument whose title reads “Lest We Forget.”

Back on the street, the parade wound its way through the village and into the town. Neighbors gathered on the sidewalk to wave hello to their friends, family, and neighbors who were among the firefighters, scouts, and band members who join the Memorial Day parade every year.

An hour later, the parade ended with another, longer, ceremony at the memorial across from Cornwall Town Hall.
