Cornwall residents and businesses that suffered property damage or loss as a result of last week’s storm are eligible for federal funds after President George Bush declared Orange County a federal disaster area.

At least two residences in the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson suffered damage as a result of the high waters from the storm, one on Mountain Road and a second on Hudson Street, according to village clerk Jeanne Mahoney.

An unknown number of residences were damaged in greater Cornwall, where several roads were flooded when the Moodna Creek overflowed its banks.

The official village website is informing residents about the potential federal aid and more information may be downloaded from its website, including how to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
