A reader alerted us to this global effort to turn the lights out for one hour on Saturday, March 29, from 8 to 9 p.m.
The effort, called Earth Hour, is designed to spread the word about the need to take action against global warming.
The program started last year in Sydney, Australia, where, on March 31, 2009, two million businesses and households turned off their lights for one hour.
