General News: Standing Room Only at 2 Alices
April 05, 2007
Well Folks, if you were not at “2 Alice’s Coffee Lounge” Saturday night for my open mic, then read this….
If you were there, then you experienced one heck of a time.
It was SRO all night, just ask the people who were outside looking in, that’s right, OUTSIDE LOOKING IN.
It was non-stop right from 7PM till Mid-night. We had 17 performers that night, all shapes, sizes and ages.
Young violinist Jacob took the carpet early and amazed the (SRO) crowd. One tune in particular sticks in my mind, it was called “Shove that pig's foot a little further into the fire.”
There were quite a few new musicians that came to see what the “Little Bobby Open Mic Experience” was all about. This included Vincent Salmeri, Brian Schweitzer with Lindsay Roblesi ( Great Duet of an Original tune), The Collective (who had a couple of Original songs also, and a lot of fans in attendance), Don Sparks came all the way from New Paltz to give us an original song about his dad.
Clara Picarro bought her friend Ester to the show. Clara gave the audience a GREAT version of a Patsy Cline tune called “Crazy” (I Love that song). Then it was Ester's turn. Well… let me tell you, Ester can work a room better than Frank Sinatra did at the Sands Hotel any day.
Last but not least, Ryan B. took the carpet and sang a few his original songs. Apparently Ryan had a paper due in History class, and decided to put it to song. And put it to song he did, to the tune of (no pun intended) an “A”. He had the audience howling…
So, NOW are you going to miss the next open mic?
As Always, I remain,
“Little” Bobby Barton
