St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital opened the Total Joint Replacement Center this month, bringing patients into the newly-renovated facility on a wing of the hospital’s Newburgh campus.
The new look of the joint replacement center is part of a planned renovation of the entire hospital and it extends into the adjoining pediatric care rooms. Soft, warm hues on the walls and floors now greet the visitor and patients enjoy majestic views of the Hudson River and highlands from their rooms.
The new facility offers total care for patients who have undergone joint replacement and aims to put them on a faster track to full rehabilitation than previously possible when services were scattered throughout the hospital.
One of the central principles of the rehabilitation program involves a focus on group support. Patients will eat their meals together in a dining area and encourage one another to meet new movement goals on their road to full recovery.
The new center is part of a $100 million plan to renovate, enhance technology and bring new services to the area, including the Center for Cancer Care that was recently approved for construction at the hospital’s Cornwall campus.
