U.S. Congressman John Hall has nominated Cornwall-on-Hudson resident Colin Anderson to attend either the United States Merchant Marine Academy or the Air Force Academy. Anderson, who is one of 21 nominees in the Hall’s congressional district, is a senior at Cornwall Central High School.
Anderson, a leading member of the high school cross-country team, applied for the nomination this past fall, writing an essay and undergoing a physical fitness exam and an interview by a review board.
Anderson has been accepted by the Merchant Marine Academy in King’s Point, Brooklyn, as well as at SUNY’s Maritime College in the Bronx.
His mother, Lauren Anderson, says she is very proud of her son winning the nomination.
