Barbara Gosda is throwing her hat into the political ring in a bid for a seat on the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson board of trustees. Two current trustees whose seats are up for re-election are also expected to run again.
This weekend, Gosda started gathering signatures on a petition that must be submitted by February 12th.
Gosda, who serves on the Village Square Improvement Association and the Master Plan Committee, says that she is motivated to work on behalf of the village and that she is particularly concerned about water issues. "The water department needs as much attention as the village government," she said recently. "It is a vital service and a huge responsibility."
Village clerk Jeanne Mahoney said that one other individual had picked up a petition for the trustee race. That’s current trustee Charles (Rudy) Hahn. His term is up this year, along with that of trustee Peter Miller. Miller says that he is planning to run again for his seat and will be getting out with a petition soon.
A total of 75 valid signatures must be gathered for the petition to be considered valid. The election for the two trustee seats will be held from on March 18.
