Before a crowd of some 100 people, Kevin Quigley took the oath of office Tuesday, January 1, 2008, becoming the new supervisor of the town of Cornwall.

Quigley was joined by other officials who were sworn into new terms.   Town clerk Elaine Tilford Schneer was sworn in first, then she administered the oath of office to Quigley,  town board member Joseph Kerry McGuinness,  town justices Francis Navarra and Joseph Thomson, and receiver of taxes Elizabeth Loginott,    Board member Randy Clark, who was re-elected to another term in November, was not present.

Following the brief ceremony,  Quigley thanked people for attending on New Year’s Day.  He recognized several local dignitaries and his wife, Diane, a registered nurse, for her support.   Mrs. Quigley said that she is confident that her husband is up for the job.  “He’s been in the town since we was five years old,”  she commented.  “I know he’ll do a good job.”

Cornwall-on-Hudson mayor Joseph Gross also welcomed the arrival of a new supervisor in the town, noting after the ceremony that he looks forward to working with the town to share more resources to benefit the public in both the village and town.

Supervisor Quigley leads his first meeting on Thursday, January 3, with a reorganization meeting that starts at 7 p.m.
