December 16, 2007
Entries are now being invited for Cornwall Public Library’s 2008 Timothy Mumford Memorial Poetry Competition. The library is anticipating a terrific response to this year’s event – the third annual competition. Last year, 78 poets submitted more than 150 poems for consideration.
Submissions will be rated in five different age categories by a panel of independent judges. Submissions will be accepted any time between December 16, 2007 and March 23, 2008. Winners in each of the categories will be announced in April 2008 and awards will be presented during a special program scheduled for Sunday, April 27.
A new addition for 2008 will be the publishing of a “Poetry Journal” containing all poems submitted, for which the library has the author’s written permission to include. The book will sell for $5.00. All proceeds will go toward enhancement of the following year’s competition.
Rules, a permission form and more detailed information about the Timothy Mumford Memorial Poetry Competition are available at the library, or by e-mailing Beth Texter at [email protected]. Submissions can be dropped off at the library during regular hours, e-mailed, or mailed to: Cornwall Public Library Poetry Competition, 395 Hudson St., Cornwall, NY 12518.
